I had a 2.5x8 Leupold kicking around so put it on my muzzleloader a couple years ago to develop the load. Now I'll just leave it on and hunt with it this year since it's legal.
At the ranges that I'll realistically shoot in the field, this is plenty of scope for me.
I think a solid 4x is plenty unless your eyes are old and tired like mine. Almost any ***quality*** 4, 6, 2x7 or 3x9 would be just fine for real world hunting with a front-stuffer.
