Some jerk hacked into our e-mail account and sent everyone in our address book an e-mail saying we took a trip to Europe and were robbed while in London and please send $1200.00 so we could get home. These people have no originality. But it still ticks me off.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me on Monday, only they said I was in Spain. It's been a huge mess for me, and I've had well over 100 phone calls about it. I did call a buddy who is a detective in the sex crimes division at our sheriff's department, and told him I wanted to report a future sex crime. When he asked me what the heck I was talking about, I told him that if I ever caught the POS that did this to me, I was gonna cut his balls off and stuff them down his throat! After he quit laughing, he told me there isn't that much that can ben done since the perps are overseas.

Strong passwords are a good thing to have, and change them from time to time.

Hey dcup, what's your password?

LAST EDITED ON Aug-19-11 AT 09:43AM (MST)[p]HAHAHAHA! Not funny, just reminds me of when my email address book was hacked and someone used it to send a Viagra ad to the director of the UT DNR. (my daughter got one too she was even more shocked) Change your password.

If you are using a YAHOO acct it has happened a lot over the past year or so.

these guys are correct. Just to warn you anyone that opened the email from them is now possibly hacked also. That is the way these things work. they hack one account and then send out emails to all of their contacts and hope that someone will open it and then it then gives access to their address book and they do the same thing with all of their contacts. the only way to get this to stop is to change your password. I change mine every other week to avoid this and also dont open attachments to emails if something about the email seems weird. You can usually tell when something is off, the wording in the email is not what your buddy would use, or they are asking something that is out of the ordinary for that person. Just be wary of everything now days.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-19-11 AT 10:34AM (MST)[p]I had stayed in Logan and had used the computer at the Hotel. The computer "didn't seem right" I figure now that someone was hacked in and was counting key strokes, I changed the password and haven't had a problem since. Mine was just a way to mass advertise a "product" yours was some WPOS trying to scam money out of your friends.

I wish I was getting some cash. It would help my hunting fund. But not that way. Our e-mail was with Juno. And yes we changed our password. It sounds like this is exploding all over right now. It might be a good idea for everyone to change their password, but couldn't someone just hack into that also?

1. RAMPID

A non-existant word that mentally challenged people often confuse with the word "rampant."

I don't do Facebook but my wife does all the time. She told me not to even think about blaming Facebook.
