Just got back from the 111-115 221,222 late Elk hunt. Killed a nice 6x7 bull on Opening day. Not the biggest bull in the area but I sure as heck wasnt going to pass him up. Sorry about the crappy pictures I havent downloaded the good ones yet.

Great bull not matter what size. How many points did you have? I have 17 and counting. Worth putting in for this late hunt? Any other bulls around? Congratulations on a nice bull.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-11 AT 06:03PM (MST)[p]Thanks guys,

I had 7 resident points and this unit was my first choice. I was seeing around 20-30 bulls a day. Most of them I was spotting well over a mile away and they were in Bachlor groups. It made it hard to judge the bull quality but I got a look at the one I took standing on the skyline and decided to try for him on opening day. Woke up at 330am and started hiking at 430 just in case someone else had the bull spotted as well. I was right were I needed to be at first light and he walked out into the open at 6:30 and I closed the deal. Not 10 minutes after he was down two guys showed up and the poor look on there face was priceless. I did feel bad for them but the early bird catches the worm.
My brother had the early tag last year in the same unit and with the help of a few other MMers he took a nice 340 bull. Went back this year and found bulls in almost the exact spot as last year during the early season.
His body by the way was Massive at least 100 pounds heavier then my brothers bull last year.

Looks like the first couple hundred feet of the pack out was going to be a pain in that rock pile.

Good job on the hunt, you got up early and got it done! That is a great Bull and defiantly worth the effort.
