Let me guess, you drive a 1 ton with oak trees for smoke stacks, 12" lift kit and 40" tires to pull a single place lawn mower trailer?

LAST EDITED ON Sep-26-13 AT 08:17AM (MST)[p]LOL. I was thinking something like Crab Claws or Crabby!

If his backs forked any deeper, they would have to come off of the main beam!

TWH Tall,Wide and Handsome.
That's one super Buck.

Or because he has everything just call him "Peyton"

Caesar, bones, boxy, king tut, tiny. Take your pic but I like tiny. It suits him

I would call him the ?Crack Buck? just for the fact, after the first time you seen him you would just keep coming back for more! He would make you a buck junky!

Don't die dreaming
DIE TRYING!

"Pointer"
He has long Points.
In the first pic his leg is up on point.
In the last pic he is holding point and one ear is out while the other is back.

Why don't you just ask him what his name is?
I don't know why you want to re-name him when his parents already gave him one!
You need to be more sensitive!

SUE!

Cuz he is BADAZZ enough to wear it!

Oh and tristate I think 196 is about the most controversial statement you've made on these pages and you have had a couple doozies! Haha.

That deer will make 200 + without the inline. In his sleep haha.

Huntindad,

Thanks for chiming in with a score. For whatever reason we are the only two that are guessing. I have no problem with you disagreeing with me and I very well could be wrong, but this deer needs a little more going for it to break 200 inches. Yes, he has exceptional tine length. But he has weak mass measurements, very average main beams and he has a pitiful inside spread credit.

It is extremely difficult for a buck to break 200 inches with less than 38 inches of mass, less than 25 inch main beams, and less than 22 inches of spread. In order to break 200 inches he will have to average 19 inches in length on his six best tines, and he ain't got it.

I see a 200"+ deer, all day long, which won't quite actually measure 200"!
I like the name "peaches" or "Sue" like the other poster said. THAT deer could be named anything as long as you called him "Mine"!
Helluva Monster buck. I hope someone gets to legally measure him.
Zeke

I thought some of the locals here already had a name for him. He runs with a decent 24-26 inch buck and if I remember right they were called Pancho and Lefty. Don't know which is Pancho or Lefty. As far as score goes, I think he goes around 210.

Poncho and lefty? Aren't those the guys on the old TV series CHiP'S? LOL

Like I said, I hope someone gets to legally tag this great buck. Then we'll know what he scores for sure....maybe. LOL

Hey Coop, Thanks for posting the pics. It's made my day/week/month.

Zeke

You're welcome on the score guess and I agree on most of what you're saying about this buck. However I have a buck on my wall that has less spread credit an similar main beam length to this guy and an inline of similar length as well. Mine has 4 inch eye guards and a few small cheaters per side and slightly better mass but nowhere near the tine length and he scores roughly 194 to 196 as per my taxi who is an official B&C scorer.
Having said that the score contests here have humbled me into knowing that score by picture is VERY subjective and not nearly as important to me as curb appeal so if that is a 195 deer i would shoot him over NUMEROUS 200 plus inch deer i have seen pics of.

Tristate, I fully respect your score but here is what I come up with: I have him at roughly 160 in tine length alone. 77 for the left and 83 for the right. Add in a 22 inch inside measurement which is what I have for his shortest main beam as well and since he is maybe a little weak in the mass department, I'll give him 32. 160+22+32=? Maybe I'm crazy. Even if I'm off an inch per measurement he breaks 200.

Awesome one of a kind buck regardless of score. I just hope he can live a couple more years without someone doing something stupid or a car hitting him.

I don't think he makes 200 either. Both main beams look under 20" to me, and inside spread is 20 max. Mass is also weak, and G1's are not long. The rest of him is awesome! Fantastic tine length on the back end! He is in the 190's. Great buck.

Heres where I have him.

MB 24 24
G1 2.5 2.5
G2 18 18
G3 14 14
G4 14 14
Mas 17 17
---- -----
89.5 89.5

With and inside spread of 18, he'll go 197 on the frame, plus 5 more on the inline. For sure 200+, and with fractions he is very close to a 200 inch deer. I'd put money that I didn't over shoot any of the G lengths except the G1

It is amazing what some people come up with on this site at times. Last week someone was upset that a hunter shot a 240 inch dink. This week, this buck's beams are 19 inches. Hahahaha!

I think his main beams are much better than most here are giving credit for. Those that make that big curve, they add up.

gross 200"! Maybe not easy but i think peaches will go that.

Instead of enjoying a great looking buck, You all want to fight over a fricking score if he will make 200 or just 193, if his main beams are long enough. Cooper brings his very nice photo's and this is what happens.

Enjoy this buck for what he is. If you can't I feel you might have lost your way.
Opinion are like A$$holes, I just gave you mine.

Here's an opinion for you;
I see a bunch of guys who are passionate about mule deer and have really enjoyed Coop's contribution to our addiction. They have respectfully disagreed on the gross score of the buck. Nobody is calling the deer small or weak in any way. Everyone is saying it's a great buck and have enjoyed the thread. Where's the fighting?

Thanks again Cooper for the beautiful photos of a fantastic buck!

Zeke

+1 Zeke

I thought everyone kept it pretty respectful and the OP asked for opinions on score.

I do understand where Gator is coming from though as ma y of these discussions turn a bit ugly. This one seems good to me though?

Thanks, Zeke. I could be wrong. Done that a few times in my life.;) But if his main beams are 24", I'll eat two of those decals!!Maybe 21 on the longer one.His main beams and inside spread remind me a lot of a buck I killed in '09 in Nv. He was great all the way around, but his front end killed his score. But I didn't care, because I had a great hunt and killed a cool buck.

I have measured a lot of mule deer ear lengths just for reference, and most are 8". I still say he doesn't quite bust 200. Close, but no cigar.

Not fighting!! Just sayin'...

Gator,

The poster asked for a recommendation on name and a score. I tried to oblige with both.

As I see it this is similar to a discussion over whether Selma Hayek has really good boobs or spectacular jugs. Either way, if reference photos are supplied, no one gets angry and everyone is set for a great weekend.

Bring on the horn porn anytime. Whether they score 170 or 220 I need something to look at instead of this damn city I am stuck in this weekend.

Pretty buck!

I would call him "Big5" or "The Big 5".

HOOK 'EM!

Gator, are we a little cranky this morning? lol

The guy asked for our opinion on a score. You used to like giving your opinions on scores. i don't think anyone is out of line here but maybe you...then again, that's OK too cause we all have a right to our opinions.

IMO, most of the time, these "guess the score" threads are positive for the site and i do enjoy them even when there is banter back and forth on just how crazy one must be to figure just how low or high a deer might score.

Nontyp, You could be right but I give him 24" MB's, maybe a bit better, most certainly not 20"

Peaches will have to do, I'd like to name him ' MY BUCK!" and as for the score I dont have to guess Im sure I know it. Score: "big enough for me"

Mulies dont have names. Only Whitetails on the Outdoor channel.Thats a stud buck and great photos! Thx for posting

I have to agree with the name "Peaches", but I will disagree with the score you guys are putting up, I think he will go 211.

Sweet buck hope someone gets him this year and lets us know the score but that really does not matter he is simply amazing!

I was going to guess 196,but Tri-state did. The main beams are short, not over 22 I scored him several times, I keep coming up with 196-198. I agree with Non-typical most ears are about 8 inches. Still a very nice buck. Flame away BOYS

Yelum,

I think your measurements are dead on, but I believe the inside spread would be more like 23" putting this buck at 207". Years
ago I wanted to field judge deer better and always thought mule deer's ears were between 20"-23", so I personally measured around 15 bucks that would score between 180"-210". Their ears were mounted out like this photo and surprisingly they were all almost dead on 23". I have used this trick before on photos using Illustrator and have been able to nail the outside spread.
In the photo, I've adjusted the ruler so that the guides are scaled to show the with from each ear to be 23" from tip to tip. You can see that it gives the buck a 33" outside spread and 23" inside. The curvature of the G2, makes the 18" measurement dead-on. I really don't see this buck going 33.5 outside, I'm thinking his ears are about 22" 32" outside.

No doubt an awesome buck, but as pointed out he has no mass. So i'm going with "Roberto Duran" as his nickname. I know, i know that's a bad joke.

"Big, Stupid Apple Eater" I am sorry, but I just can't get into the adopt-a-buck mode. On the less cynical side, he is a beauty. :)

I sure was cranky, Sorry for all the hurt feeling. But it was some-one else fault that I was cranky, I have a deer tag for the 19th of Oct and have a job dropping on the 21st Oct.
First time I wasn't able to move the job so it didn't cost me a hunt, I guess any EWO(extra work order) that come up on the job will have a hunt cost factor into them now. So right now life is sucking a little.
BUT at least it's work. But I'm still hoping the paving guys don't show up on the job until a week later LOL.

The name I would pick would be The Dagger buck. Just because all his forks look like huge daggers. Also if I ever saw him on a hunt and had an opportunity at him I'd probably start gagging. Wow.

Alright so I scheduled an appointment and interviewed the deer, he said his name is Sir Walter Alouicious Peaches III. After introducing him to a bottle of Dermosedan he taped out to a whopping 201 3/8. I asked why he ate so many peaches he simply stated, "have you tasted the grass lately?" I guess I have to understand his point. We then started talking politics and women and suddenly I realized I was dreaming. I guess I spend way too much time looking at his pics and wondering what if. I often believe I can darn near read a muleys thoughts and plan my move accordingly but an actual interview, that would be amazing!

3011image.jpg

Here's a good comparison for ya. I found this set in 05. It scores 213 1/4gross 205 3/4 net. The way I'm holding him in the picture Is just for display not the way he really sat Giving him, in that picture, about a 37-38 inch outside spread. In reality he actually sat at roughly 32-33inches wide outside
"I've hunted almost every day of my life, The rest
have been wasted"

I would call him Pitch Fork, cause of his lack of mass, and the length of those tines looks like a pitch fork. LOL

Awesome deer, at first glance I thought he was for sure way over 200"s but after a good look over I keep coming up with 197. but he is a STUD for sure.

I'm like several others. If this buck survives, and I was in your neck of the woods, I think the first thing that would come to mind is that shot of him with a big ol' peach in his mouth! So,I'd think "There's ol' PEACHES!" Also, I watched several does under my peach tree last year as they were mouthing a pile of fallen peaches and spitting out the pits. Fun to watch!
