Got a 231 cow tag. I’ve never hunted cow elk before. We just got home yesterday empty handed. Had to go back to work … Finally saw elk yesterday morning at about 1800 yards about 15 of em. Watched em for a while thinking they would bed down. They didn’t, and were headed for private land. Some headed around the mountain, to try and intercept em but blew our shot. 4 cows spotted us at 250 yards. That’s the only 4 we saw after moving. My question is will they likely be in the same basin in a couple weeks, or am I back to square one glassing all the other paces? I figure that’s my starting place I can’t get back up until the weekend before Christmas. Maybe a couple days earlier
