I finally talked the old lady into letting me get a muzzeloader. I have a Knight Revolution coming soon.
I have never shot a muzzeloader in my life. I would appreciate any info on what all I need, to get started. Any recommendations on powder, bullets and what cleaning accesories I need. Also, what about powder measures, quick loaders. I just know enough to get myself confused.

Congrats on your purchase. I shoot an Omega but my son who turns 14 this year really liked how the Revolution handled. So we got one for him and I am impressed with it's accuracy.

A couple of tips regarding the gun. Since it was introduced last year there were two small problems that Knight more than adequately fixed (they have great support). The first was a report of a problem mis-firing due to a spring. I didn't have this on mine. The other had to do with excessive blow back. I had this problem. They changed out the breech plug and all is well. Here is a link with a pic of the new plug to compare against yours. http://www.chuckhawks.com/knight_thunderdome.htm You may not have either problem but if you do contact Knight and they will take care of you.

With bullets and powder, you'll have to discover what works best in your gun. Every one has opionions on this so choose what you like and are willing to spend. Here are some links for your reading: http://www.chuckhawks.com/muzzleloader_index_bullets.htm

My Revolution liked bigger and hotter, I couldn't group at less than 85 grains T7. I ended up with 300gr Dead Centers and 90gr BM3. You can get some BM3 at Cabelas when it opens at the end of August in Lehi. Sportsmans doesn't carry it.

As a personal preference I changed the sights. I'm here in Utah as well. I prefer the Millet Red Dot 1x. Nothing to line up so easy aquisition. Just put the dot on the target. If you don't like that, try a Williams peep sight. Either will improve your accuracy over the open sights which are still great if that's what you like.

Best of luck

Thanks for the info and links guys. I got to check out the rifle at noon hour. It does have the updated breech plug. I will have to get it out and shoot it.
