For the record 1911 didn't shoot it in the eye. He was a tough old buck that pick a fight with the wrong buck. Got his eye poked out. Maybe that should be his nickname Arghh. The pirate buck !

I was trying to figure out how I sacked him in he eye. Once I got up to him i figures it was a battle wound. It wasn?t infected but it was old enough it was dried up.

I finally broke my Hatfield knife?s virginity after all these years. Worked like a champ and I need to buy a couple more soon.

It was kind of a bittersweet hunt. Me and my dad always chased bucks from the time I was about 8. This was the first year he was not around to report back to. He was unable to physically go the last few years, but this was the first season he was never going to get a hunting report from me. I'd never killed a buck of this caliber and neither had he. I'm confident he was with me on this hunt and it was almost as if I could hear him say you finally got a good one bud. We had a one eyed horse for years and years that he dearly loved. I can't help but think the one eye was a signal from the other side.

I've got a terrible predicament. I left my beautiful knife out in the counter and junior tossed it in the dishwasher. As you already know, it did a number on the wood handle. I need to send it back to the custom shop for some new wood.

OK, I will not put my logo on one of the knives. I will put Homer's name on the blade and they might think it was a suicide by his own knife. They will be razor shaving sharp. Do you want a gallon of kerosene also to destroy the evidence?
