Nikon Fieldscope III ED? Any good? Worth the $? others?

I need a spotter that is good. I don't mind spending some $ but want a good value. Is there any better spotter than the ED for the $ that I can order new in the box. What else do I need to know before spending some $ on a scope? Also, I can't decide what size of objective since a 50 is more portable and a 60 more to look at. I could carry a 50 on an elk hunt but mostly I'll use it on the bench so a 60 might better.

Have you taken a look at the Minox MD62ED with their 21-42x LER eyepiece? Great scope and not as expensive as the big three.
