Picture of my grandpa and his friends in the early fifties. The deer were shot in a spot where me and my family still hunt today, but I don't think we'll ever go Nine For Nine like they did.
Man to have been able to hunt back in those days.................................(mind wonders as I am daydreaming) a good group of guys, nine for nine and a few brews. Sounds too good to be true. Thanks for the pics.
Looks like all the deer were vertically challenged (midgets). They all have their lower legs cutoff. Agree on tipping the truck over, must be almost 1800 lbs hanging on one side. Any answer about the things pinned to their hats? Couple of nice racks in there. Thanks.
Those are their hunting licsenses on their hats for all you young ones. It used to be that it had to be visible, The deers legs are cut off because they were brought down loaded on a horse. Some pretty steep and ledgy country I might add. If you look under the rear of the truck you can see a horse head feeding.
That's awesome, I read nine for nine in the posting title and thought no way, not recently. I was right, not recently, but its sure great to see how it was back then! Thanks for sharing the pic!
Cool pic. The truck is leaning a bit to that side! - I wouldn't say 1800 lbs though, more like 1500. A good lot of deer for sure. Most of those bucks probably never saw a taxidermist either - that was the norm and only trophy hunters (big shots with $$$$) mounted their deer. I do guarantee though however that not a drop of the venison was wasted!
