NM Unit 16D - Elk Archery - Rain Inquiry

LAST EDITED ON Aug-21-18 AT 04:34PM (MST)[p]Anybody out there know if the Gila area has been getting rain. Im wondering about unit 16D specifically. A buddy and I scouted the area for elk last month and everything was extremely dry. There was not much greenery for the animals to feed on except on the sides of a creek. The elk we did see had ribs exposed. I was hoping the monsoon would help the vegetation and animals soon. Hopefully someone out there knows the condition of the unit. Thanks!

I was just there and it's green and most tanks have some water. Elk have put on allot of weight in the last month.

Dude it's 16d. If you know what you're doing you should have no problems. It's not as lush as it's been in the past few years ,but it's good enough! Post pics after you kill one. I'll be I'm a neighboring unit. Good luck! Make it happen!

I haven't been in D but have been in A a lot over the past month and like everyone mentioned it has greened up a lot and most tanks are filled up. Not sure how the burn looks right now but I would suspect everything else to be coming around!
