Anyone know anything about the rifle hunt in December? my wife has enough points to draw it and since we're eastern oregon natives and know how bad the mule deer hunting is I was thinking of maybe this hunt for her. are there any good blacktail there? most guys are more interested in the Columbia whitetail but she'd rather have a nice blacktail given a choice.

A friend of mine had it this year and he said that it is pretty easy to find nice blacktail bucks there. He scouted a couple days before the opener and seen close to a hundred deer and even some elk that got pushed down due to snow. Most of the deer were blackies and he was wanting a whitetail because he has shot a few good blacktail. He shot a 4x4 whitetail counting eyeguards, on opening day he was a little disappointed. Lots of ground shrinkage!!!!

Did he say how bad the hunter pressure was? there aren't many tags but I don't think it's a very big area either.
