NR Elk back door

Is there any nonresidents out there that have pulled a 500 code? I should have drawn my elk tag for sure this year and so far I still only show a 481 code.

Our group of 3 got ours. The unit has taken 9 to be a given the last couple of years. We have been doing points only until the time was right. This year was the year so we burned 11 points. It's people like us that help make the odds unpredictable.

It was for unit 40 3rd season rifle. I had 10 points. Last year it took 8 to draw.

When you do the math only 33% of NR with 8 points drew last year. If the number of available permits were decreased because of the increase in land owner tags...add of a couple people jumping units and ten might not have been enough. The "preference points required" page can be misleading.

Ironically, I thought I had enough points to draw my elk tag in CO as well. It is always unpredictable as there is point creep, points only applications, and guys change units.

Somehow I snuck in and drew 61 archery elk as a NR.

Not complaining one bit, as my odds were pretty slim

did you not have a second choice? In other words how do you know you drew that tag as the back door inly shows you drew but not which choice?

In 14 it took 8 points, but the year before it took 10 points.

I didn't have a second choice, so it is 61 for sure, 18 years later haha....Hope it will be worth the wait!

for sheer numbers it will be great and for the number of bulls you should encounter enough 300 plus bulls to keep it very exciting .
We saw two over 350 during second rifle
I had a second choice so I am going nuts waiting to hear if I drew 61 or cow hunting elsewhere.
