Some of you will recognize the name of Bill Brown. He is a highly respected retired member of the Billy Graham team. I take his assessmentof Obama very seriously and for that reason accept his challenge to pass this on I share his concern about the "rock star" image Obama has and watch with growing concern at the celebrity status the media has foisted upon him. I hope this email informs you in a wise way.

We are witnessing a political phenomenon with Barack Obama of rare magnitude. His speeches have inspired millions and yet most of his followers have no idea of what he stands for except platitudes of "Change" or that he says he will be a "Uniter". The power of speech from a charismatic person truly can be a powerful thing; Certainly Billy Graham had charisma and both his manner of speech and particularly the content changed millions. On the extreme other hand, the charisma of Adolph Hitler inspired millions and the results were catastrophic.

Barack Obama certainly is no Hitler or a Billy Graham, but for many Americans out there feeling just like a surfer who might be ecstatic and euphoric while riding a tidal wave, the real story is what happens when
it hits shore.

Many people have asked, "what has Barack Obama actually accomplished to qualify himself as a candidate for President?"

*_Here is a list of Barack Hussein Obama's accomplishments:

_** He voted against banning partial birth abortion.
* He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state
abortions.
* Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government.
* In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing.
* Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum wage
affair.
* Admitted marijuana and cocaine use in high school and in college.
* His religious convictions are very murky.
* He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il
and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
* Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to
have a conference with all Muslim nations.
* Opposed the Patriot Act.
* First bill he signed that was passed was campaign finance reform.
* Voted No on prohibiting law suits against gun manufacturers.
* Supports universal health-care.
* Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
* Supports granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
* Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
* Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform.
* Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social
Security.
* Wants to make the minimum wage a "living wage".
* Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes.
* Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead
supports increasing the amount of tax paid.
* He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax
* He voted No on repealing the "Death" Tax.
* He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax.
* Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded
* He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that
takes some doing.

If your political choices are consistent with Barack Obama's and you think that his positions will bring America together or make it a better place, then you will probably enjoy riding the wave.

If you are like most Americans that after examining that he stands for, are truly not in line with his record, it would be prudent to get off the wave or better yet, never get on, before it comes on shore and undermines the very foundations of this great Country.

We have limited time to save America or the Supreme Court as we know it.

Remember...inaction is action.

You are aware he's a democrat? I'm not sure what you expect of him, these issues are what's going to get him elected.

I don't agree with some of them myself, but it might be hard to get the front runner to change his position just so he can lose votes.

It's just too bad that many people who support him know nothing of his political stances/agendas. Those who do are radical leftists anyway. Enjoyed your post.

OK, I've seen this stuff 1000 times along with about 8500 false statements about Obama now, so I find it hard to believe most Americans don't have an idea about who and what Obama is.

Dude;

Much as I have critized you, I know that you do have a good grasp on where most candidates stand on issues due to researching it on your own time. This is not the case with the average voter walking into the polling place. In my area a recent survey was conducted and by far the average voter was unable to state major issues where Obama stands. I am sure this is probably true with supporters of McCain.
Most of the people questioned were able to state that Obama is "for change" but did not know squat about what the change was going to be. They just do not devote the time to fully understand if their candidate has the same stance as they do on certain issues. They will not search his past on voting record and see if there is a difference between the voting record as compared to what the candidate is promising.
I hate to state it, but the average voter is very ignorant about issues and can tell you more what is happening in show business or sports then they can politics that effect them on a daily basis.
A very sad state of affairs concerning the average voting American.

You're probably right on that one, I've seen some statistics about how uninformed the average American is and it's scary. maybe there should be a test to prove you're competent to vote.

As controversial as Obama has been both in fact and fiction in the media and right wing tabloids it's just hard to imagine anyone being so out of touch as to not have heard it all. but possible.

Dude,
We agree on this. The average American does not really know what they believe or what the candidates believe. It is truly a sad day when the few who bother to vote don't seem to care enough to find out who they are voting for.

You know I can't pass this up, so...

Right wing tabloids? What would this be, anything that dares publish Ann Coulter? How about we agree that the main stream media is liberally controlled and the right wing "tabloids" are conservatively controlled... Who can we trust?

LAST EDITED ON Jul-15-08 AT 09:37AM (MST)[p]Answer this, if the media was so liberal and forgiving of liberals as we always hear why was Obama's preacher the only thing you could see on TV for a month? I don't see that as helpful to Obama. what you claim and what we see are two different things, the media is competitive and treats people like dirt, no way are all of them going to agree to pass a juicy story up and let FAUX have it to themselves, they'd sell their mother out for a good scoop.

The media does tend to lean liberal, but I don't see any mercy for anyone from them. this is just an excuse the far right uses everytime they get caught.

The media only carried the Wright story AFTER it was forced on them by conservative radio and blogs, they had no choice bujt to cover it. Another example, look at how the media has taken CHEAP shots at Tony Snow after his death. They didn't do the same for Russert because he wasn't a conservative. Real classy!
