I am going to go against the grain here. I think he is an old boy about on his last leg.
He is very thick in the rear and in the stomach. Young bucks have a tucked in stomach, almost like a greyhound. This guy has an old gut on him.
He also is very thick in the hind quarters, which is very rare for a young buck. Young bucks look very sleek in the hind quarters, and this buy does not look very sleek to me.
His pedicles are much too thick and protrude at too flat of an angle to be a young buck. A young buck with those thick of pedicles is very rare. Most young bucks have more of a vertical direction to their pedicles, which becomes more horizontal as they get older.
I may be completely wrong, but he looks like he is guant and withered. Looks like he has lost most of his body mass and may not make it through the winter.
Just MHO.
Happy Hunting!
