Here is a pic of a buck my grandpa killed in 1939 on or near the old family homestead not far from Red Lodge, Montana. My grandpa mounted it himself and it hung in his living room for a number of years before I was born. I found it in his attic about 1987 and hung it in my bedroom while I was a teenager. It only had one eye left. The ears were all tattered and the lead in them was exposed. It was really cool looking. While I was away for a couple years my dad had it remounted. It looks nice now, but I kind of liked the old rustic look. This pic is of the original taxidermy.
Anyone else have pics of cool old mounts. I like the ones with little or no neck. Saw a whitetail in the rafters of a lumber yard once that couldn't have had more than about 2 inches of hide behind the skull. It was just a head mount, I guess.
I really think the old ones are cool.
Post up some pics if you've got them!
Soup.
