Online maps showing private/public ground?

I'm looking at all my choices for the New Mexico applications, and was wondering if there's an online map service that shows private and public ground. I'd hate to choose an area that's mostly private and not be able to get away from the crowds.

The specific quadrant I'm talking about is the northeastern part of New Mexico. Thanks.

This site is for showing fires but you can turn on the land ownerhip layer, click it active, then click Identify, and see who owns it. PM me if you have any questions

Is there a GPS on the market which allows you to download this info into the unit so you know the land ownership (fed, state, etc..)of where you are all the time? If we can put a man on the moon I would think that this technology exists.

It is NOT possible to do what you want with the Garmin Etrex series. I can't speak to any others.
