LAST EDITED ON Oct-26-19 AT 12:10PM (MST)[p]Good friend Wayne called me in late May, saying he drew his unexpected Rifle tag. It's in an area that we know well and knew we were in for a good time. We started right away with scouting. We decided to use the earlier months learning new areas. We spent every free second we had on the mountain looking over as many deer as we could. Wayne and his friend took the muzzleloader hunt off and spent it backpacking into new areas. By this time we knew it was a great year and that he could be picky on his hunt.
Wayne has a number1 buck picked out. But was unable to relocate the buck after the muzzleloader hunt, so 2 weeks before the hunt, we went into one of our trusty go to spots. We located this buck, and the more Wayne looked at it, the more he liked it. The night before the hunt started, we had a long discussion on which buck to go hunt. Wayne decided this buck had what he wanted. We hiked in early, and at 930am opening day at 250yds, Wayne ended his hunt. After the deer fell, he broke a big cheater off on right right side.
