Oregon Supreme Court stops 10 GOP lawmakers from running for re-election, siding with Democrat's ballot ban

Oregon high court decides 10 Republican state senators cannot seek re-election after record-long walkout

I would say that Oregon is fully on it's way to having a super majority of state Democrat politicians like CA. has. Look out for more anti gun bills, free medical services to illegal aliens and higher taxes to pay for all that free stuff the average working person will not get.

Both parties have used the tactic of leaving town in order to prevent a vote on bills that they dislike and which they know are likely to pass if a quorum is established and vote taken. This has happened in Oregon as well as other states, and the United States Congress as well. Whenever this happens, the opposing party objects and demands the arrest and return (or even expulsion) of those Congressmen who refuse to do their jobs. The logic, I guess, is that the people expect a vote on bills brought to the floor, and believe that legislation should not be sidetracked by a minority who would use procedural tricks to avoid the vote.

Voters passed the ballot measure in question after a handful of representatives missed nearly six weeks, returning to work only after succeeded in gaining concessions. Most voters believe that the system only works if each side is willing to accept its losses along with its wins, and trust the state constitution to protect the interests of the minority. In the end, it was the unanimous decision of the Oregon Supreme Court that these Congressmen would be held accountable to the measure put forth by Oregon voters. Denying the need for compromise is not a winning hand in the long run,

The dipshiits knew the law before they walked out, then cried and tried to get the law overturned after the fact. Ignorant politicians on both sides of the isle in this state.
