LAST EDITED ON Feb-03-10 AT 12:30PM (MST) by Founder (admin)[p]I went down to McGregor last weekend to help two friends get their oryx.

Nathan shot his right between the eyes at 360 yards (300 Ultra Mag) - Cow with 36 inch horns

Odell shot his through the heart twice from 150 yards (7mm Rem Mag) - Bull with 30 inch horns

They are both getting European mounts and lots of meat in the freezer. It was a great time.

Way to go man! I also got an Oryx this weekend. A 39"long on one side and 25"long broken off on the other. It was a cow. I got it on the stallion range about 8:00 am this morning. One shot under 150 yards running and quartering away. My dad or I will post pics and story of it later.

Great photos and oryx! I love oyrx.

90% of the world's problems can be solved with a 25 cent Trojan.

Nice pics and the shot on that cow is not only impressive, but as humane a shot as you will ever see. Looks like some great eating and thanks for sharing, now I'm just hoping to draw another oryx tag this year...

Nice oryx!

However I do have a question. Do you have a special photo permit for on the range? I would not want everyone to lose the new privelege of getting to take pictures of their oryx because a few people abuse it and take prohibited photos.

I dont give a dam what you take pictures of on the base thats your own business. Buttt I would pull that picture on the tank off the web so it doesnt ruin everyone elses opportunity to photograph. Gilbert told me no pictures of background, equipment of wildlife. My 2 cents.

+ 1 BEARHUNTER...They just gave us the privledge of on base photos, it only takes a dumb move like that to have them take it away..

Hunting is Life...everything else is
Just details.

I Total Agree pictures like that with u guys on the tank are going to ruin it for EVERYONE ! How bout a little common sense duh?

These pics are NOT on WSMR. They are on McGregor Range. There are no camera restrictions & Gilbert has nothing to do with this hunt. However, getting on top of the abandoned equipment is I'm sure a no-no.--Kevin

nice oryx!!!

hope there will be no camera restrictions in future! so just be careful what u take picture of!

We were on McGregor, which is part of Fort Bliss, not White Sands. On McGregor it is ok to take pictures. The tank was in the bombing range and we were being escorted. You are only allowed in the bombing range with an escort.

That is good thanks for setting us straight on that. Its a nice privledge to be able to take pictures now, and sure would be nice to be able to film some day. Nice Oryx by the way.

Congrats! I was wondering when more pics from McGregor Range would be posted. :) Those are some nice looking oryx! I drew the February hunt that got moved to March so I got a little bit to wait yet!

We all want people to post there pictures, then when they do people just jump all over them for something or another then we wonder why more people don't post there pictures. I got a nice bull oryx on the stallion this last weekend and was all ready to post the pics up when I saw this one now I am not sure.

I just want to say congrats on some nice oryx and some great pictures.

don't be scared to post your pictures, pictures of oryx are great and im sure everyone would love to see them. the issue here is weather or not its ok to take pictures standing on tanks or of any like that. no one wants to loose the right to take pictures on mcgregor or wsmr. wouldn't want someone to think that was taken on wsmr and think it was ok to do on a future hunt. but if you got the green light for tank pictures on mcgregor then get after it, haha

Congrats on a great looking oryx! I really like the photos and am happy they let you guys take them, hopefully in the future the camera restrictions won't be as tough! once again congrats!

Good oryx! Good pics. I served in the Army and have tons of pictures on things like tanks, howitzers, apc's, etc. There is nothing illegal, prohibited, or wrong with standing on top of a blown up tank. Why WSMR had camera restrictions on base is beyond me. Everything that is classified or sensitive is fortified and under 24 hour guard. Keep those pics coming guys!
