I know Colorado has otc elk but are there decent hunts? My son and I did not get drawn in AZ so we are thinking that we might give it a try. Any help would be much appreciated.

There are many OTC units with outstanding elk hunting. The limited draw units have a higher % of bulls and a greater number of older trophy animals. However, there are plenty of elk in all or most of the units in the western half of the state. Take a look at the CDOW website as there is a lot of info there.

I will be looking for a leftover tag. Only want a cow tag.If no cow tags left in the area I want ,I will buy an OTC cow archery tag.

Page 30 of the Big Game brochure lists the OTC Cow elk archery units.

That is correct. You can get a cow only bow tag which is a list B tag which allows you to also get a bull tag for your list A tag.
