I never did get your email. Only one more day boy's and we are up to bat!! Man I can't wait. Hope for another storm front to move in over the next few weeks and things should be looking pretty good for us. Lets post some pics of some past buck to get us fired up. This one is of a buck my brother-in-law hammered a few years back in unit 40. Good luck to everyone

Anybody having any luck

I havent been out much but have seen quite a few 20 inchers
Just right at dark

I saw a decent buck crossing the highway heading towards Murphy flats tonight just at dark maybe 27-28 inches wide

I did hear of a great buck taken in 42

It should be getting better as the nights get darker

LAST EDITED ON Nov-06-12 AT 00:06AM (MST)[p]Here's a pic of my 40 buck taken almost two years ago to the date. Hope to draw that tag again some day...

My Daughter has 41 tag picked it up in 2nd draw. Seen over 40 bucks
in two days of scouting and two days of hunting only one shooter three days before opener. weather? rut? and lunar phase? should be better this weekend. Will keep at it!

I was out this past Saturday and seen very little sign and hardly any deer. One little 3 pt that looked to be searching for a girlfriend but the does we seen didn't have any bucks in with them. I am heading back out this Friday through the rest of the hunt. Should be good with this weather coming in Friday. I also have a 41 tag this year. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks Muleymemories!
Saturday was a alright day. Roughly 20 deer with only small bucks. The best buck we seen today was a small 4 pt that looked to be fully in the rut! Boise hope that you and your daughter made it home alright. Sure was cold. Seven more days of hunting left and hope to start turning up mare deer. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the ride. Picked up the Buck and were back to trailer by 9pm we were right off the hwy by rattlesnake res. in the vintage holiday rambler!! Heater worked all night.

This is the dude I was able to take last night. He is super heavy. 5 1/2 in base and 29 1/2 in wide form tip of kicker to tip of kicker. I love him. What do you all think he will score?

STUD buck!
Hard to tell tine length with the photo angle but he looks solid everywhere, but I wouldn't care what he scored he is a great buck.

That is a great looking buck, I shot one very similiar ( not as thick by any means) in 2009 that had the same 5th point on each side. very cool to see. Thanks for sharing.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-15-12 AT 09:45PM (MST)[p]Thanks guys. It was a fun hunt. Thank goodness for the little weather we had over this past weekend. Below is a photo of my buck when I got home and showed him to my son. To say the least, he approved. Funny thing about this is the guys at work printed off a copy of the picture I sent them and attached it to are little "brag" post we have and I guess some nickel head looked at it and accused me of doing some trick photography to make the buck look bigger! Makes me laugh. Thanks again for all the comments guys. Jim, that's a super nice buck u got yesterday. Congrats...

Shot this buck on Unit 42 Saturday. Things got really tough with the snow melting. The bucks just didn't want to come out of the cover. We worked pretty hard to find this one.

The color on this buck is very odd. Not saying he is had I think he is great. He is lacking the white on the face and neck maybe it is because he is wet. Cool looking buck. Ron

That last buck looks like a cross, you never know what traits will dominate.... and yes whitetails do inhabit the high desert here in Idaho..it is no obstacle to them. RIP Lil Bro' "Huntnfever"

Can you tell me what unit this area is? I'm planning to apply for a NR tag next year.

Just starting to do some homework in preparation for application period.

Thanks,

Idahoron - just thought you would like to know that we actually had this deer tested (hair sample) and it is indeed a "Blue Buck" or a cross between a muley and a whitetail. I too noticed that he was different, but became more interested after inspecting him over more once I got home. Long eye guards, discoloring in the face and an uncharacteristically long tail. It was still a muley tail in color etc...just super long.

Anyway - just thought you guys would like to know for sure. I think it's neat. :)

Wow, pretty cool, looks like muley horns on a whitetail body?

ridgelineoutdoors.com

Yes, there are a few whities that are along the snake. Ive seen them by Glenns Ferry and C.J Strike. Ive also seen a few in Fairfield and down here by Bliss/Kinghill area. There not real common but they are around. A few years back there was a real nice one hanging with a bachelor herd of mulies off the Schoolhouse road up in Fairfield. They say there more dominant so I imagine they will be doing alot of breeding and not many people who draw a tag will want to shoot a whitetail.

Great buck! First glance I about sh*t, in that I swear that is a whitetail face and body! That is pretty cool, he really does look strange though. Nice buck!

My 2012 buck. Stephan Woolstenhulme with Summit Taxidermist did the work and base built by Lloyd Watkins. Both turned out awesome.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-14-13 AT 11:43AM (MST)[p]Thought you guys might like to see the finished product of the "Blue Buck." He turned out pretty cool. Both of these bucks are off the Owyhee's. 2011, and 2012. The top buck is the "Blue."

Enjoy
