Gun will Probably be a Remington 700 or a Weatherby Accumark!

Wondering on the Picatinny Bases/Rail?

Strongest?

1 Piece?

Or!

2 Piece?

I Do Understand the 2 Piece would leave more room for better ease of loading!

Pro's?

Con's?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-03-16 AT 10:14PM (MST)[p]I use a NF 20MOA rail and rings on my set up. I really like it. I would be willing to let you look it over if you like.

Pros, they say it adds strength to the action on high power calibers (I can't prove that). It provides a single plane for scope mounting, and also lines rings up a titch better, but they still need lapped. Easier take off and remount of scopes. Biggest reason I went with the rail was for the taper and extra MOA for dialing long range.

Cons, weight; though minor, smaller port as you mentioned for loading, clearing jams, etc (although it has never bothered me).

I think it depends mostly on what you want to do with the gun and what style you like. I don't believe other than the taper; it offers an advantage. That's my 2 cents anyway.

What you building there anyway?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-03-16 AT 11:11PM (MST)[p]Bessy a one piece bass with 20 moa build into it. If not that and your not ever going to pull the scope off. Lock it down with a set of Talley rings and leave it alone. But the one piece bass will give you a little more movement to get that scope right where you wanted. Some of these big scopes these days are hard to get just in the right position with out a rail.

>Bess, will the scope be "chrome"?
>

LOL NVB!

Not This one!

She'll Be As Black as Our Last President!

This Will Be A Gun I can Beat in the Back woods!

A Medium Range Gun!

Thinking about going with the Burris Eliminator III Scope on this Build!

Just haven't been able to find out from anybody what works Best?

1 Piece Picatinny Rail/Base?

Or 2 Piece Picatinny Bases?

With this Scope there won't be any Rings!

The Scope Will Clamp to Weaver Style Bases that I Will NOT Use!

As You All Know I Want Rock Solid As I can Possibly Get!

With this Scope I'm not Really Sure that I need a Tapered Rail?

And I Don't know how Thick the Bases/Rail needs to be?

Thanks Guys!

The odds that a two piece base gets mounted on a Rem 700, such that the bores are concentric, cylindrical, and planar, are zero. If you go that route, hone the bores. You may need to hone a bunch depending on how long that receiver was on the scotchbrite wheel, and your mounting skills.

Or, make life easy and get a one piece base; and I'd bed it. You'll have a better chance of concentric rings and as a result, honing generally just cleans up the ring coating.

What Else You Gonna Put it on?

And have you ever Looked/Held one?

Nope. Never. Won't either. Sorry Bess. No scope can compensate for understanding ballistics and actually getting behind a rifle. Get a 6.5 Weatherby, an Eliminator and one of those new heat seeking things from Leupold. Good to go I guess.mtmuley

Won't be a 6.5 of any kind!

So mt?

If You were in the Military you wouldn't use any of their Technology?

RAZZIN Ya mt!

So?

I Take it you're using nothin more than an old K4 Weaver Scope?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-16 AT 07:13PM (MST)[p]Nope. Leupolds with CDS dials marked in MOA. Field verified drop charts. mtmuley Oh, and an old fashioned laser rangefinder.

I Already have that stuff!

Thought if I could Lighten the Load up a bit & Eliminate a Separate RangeFinder it might Help?

>Ok. Sorry Bess. I just don't

I Do See One Disadvantage with it mt!

B&C Won't let me enter any South Slope PISSCUTTERS when using it!:D

Like I've got to Worry about that,JUDAS!

[font color="blue"]She put a Big F.U. in My Future,Ya She's got a

One More thing mt!

I was behind the Times for Quite a few years!

I Give it less than a year before another/other Scope Manufacturers come out with something even bigger & Better!

[font color="blue"]She put a Big F.U. in My Future,Ya She's got a

well....do what you want bess....but if you kill a booner...don't call me to measure it...B&C don't allow that stuff.....

>well....do what you want bess....but if
>you kill a booner...don't call
>me to measure it...B&C don't

Well Who Else am I Gonna Call when that Happens?

Let me get this Right?

You Can Pack a 6,000.00+ Scope & That's OK with B&C!

You can Pack 3,500.00+ Bino's with Built in RangeFinders that Range By Far Further than the Burris Scope & that's OK with B&C!

But BY GAWD Don't Use a Less Expensive Burris Eliminator?

Anybody know what My Chances are of taking a B&C Buck off the South Slope During the Rest of My Life?

Bob,
Hone the bores?
what are the bores that you're talking about honing?
Maybe the interface of the base and receiver?
Maybe lapping the rings or honing the rings?

1 piece big fella! I've tried both. I really don't notice an increase in difficulty in loading with the one piece. I think its a matter of personal preference.

It's always an adventure!!!
