Plains hunts

Due to my work industry (Almonds) it is hard to get much time off during the peak hunting seasons (October/November). I was thinking about looking into hunts in the plains since the seasons are not until December.

Can anyone help out with information on units that don't require a lot of points or where landowner tags can be purchased for a reasonable price? Not looking for top quality units, just something where I can see some deer and have an opportunity at a respectable buck (Mule Deer by the way)

Thanks in advance.

Derek

Lanowner tags at a reasonable price and december seasons that dont take alot of points dont exist I dont believe. I get tags thru a landowner that I know otherwise Id be without cuz I couldnt afford them either. Gary

Okay. Thanks for the info. I guess I will need to look into some units where I won't need a lot of points to draw.

You can still hunt the plains without big money but it takes alot more time and effort than most people are willing to put in getting permission and figuring out properties, etc

Most eastern units take 3-5 points to draw in december. Landowner vouchers are not given out in good numbers for the dec 1-14 hunt. Like it has been said though, with enough leg work, a great hunt could be had. It might be easier to take up muzzy hunting and go in september and hunt the rest of the state.

There is some good areas around EADS I don't rmemeber the unit number but you will see both WT and Muleys in those sloughs and creek bottom and out in the tall prairie grass.
