Powder question

I just got an old can of IMR 4831 from my father in law. I loaded a few rounds for my 300 win mag, I like the results and think I have a good load set up.
Question is, has IMR changed since 1989? If I go buy a can of powder can I expect similar results?

Thanks

It should make little to no difference. Where did you get your data for what you loaded that you like the results on?

Yes and no. I have seen where I had to adjust from lot to lot of the same powder over a few years. So, a load you work up with the old powder may be on or it may need to be tweaked for a future lot. Usually, its not a big change and if you use the OCW process to develop the load, it will be even closer.

It was a load my father in law worked up, I am getting groups of three under an inch. I want to try some nosler partitions with the powder and see how it groups. I have only tried the hornady spire points so far. It is 69 grains of powder with a 180 gr slug.

Thanks for the info, that's what I was hoping to hear.
