Printing process ?

Please excuse my ignorance on this, but last year I dove into the dslr game and have been taking numerous pictures ever since. Also, I've started to learn some very rudimentary photoshop stuff to get my pictures looking a little better. But now I'm sort of lost on the next step in actually printing them.

So, I've been shooting in RAW and editing them there as well. Once I'm happy with what I have, do I need to save it to a jpg file and then run through one of the online printer companies or save it to a disc and just take it to Costco? Thanks for any help you can offer.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-15-10 AT 05:58PM (MST)[p]Good ?
I also just got started taking photos in (NEF) RAW.
And learning to do some editing in Lightroom.
I have not gotten to the printing stage yet.
Looking forward to some other replys on this.

Make sure you crop to the size you want printed...5x7, 8.5x11 etc. Since your shooting in Raw and your trying to minimize the compression you might want to save as a tiff file which will minimize your compression. Costco does a ok job but you might want to find a color house to get your best finished product. Sometimes shooting In Raw for a new guy can be more headache than Its worth. Just my 2 cents!
