Hey guys just got this notice form the NRA in the mail on AB962. Basically says its gona be a major pain to buy ammo and ammunition retailers have to be registered and we will be fingerprinted if we wana buy ammo. It says to contact Senator Denise Moreno Ducheny by phone 916-651-4040 and urge her to oppose Ab962. Its starting to get serious so please give her a call hopefully it wont come to fingerprinting and banning mail order ammunition.

It has already passed the Assembly and is going to be heard in the Senate Public Safety Committee later today 7/7/09. http://www.senate.ca.gov/htbin/testbin/noframe_raudio if you want to here the BS go down.

It just passed the saftey commite. Now it has untill 7-10 to get through appropriations, then to the floor of the senate for a vote, and then to the govenors desk. Theres still time to contact your elected officials.

The way this state is going, they won't be able to pay cops to enforce this law anyways.

No cops?? You better have ammo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys,
If You fish the Ocean, The MLPA will take away all fishing in 2010 from Ventura to Mexico. I attended 3 meetings and heard I was a "consumptive predator" of marine life. I fished 20 days per year out of Dana Point with my Son. Last year we caught and released 1500 bass. I ate 12 bass, 36 dorado and 5 yellow fin tuna. The kayak, sportfishing, spearfishing, lobster trapping, partyboat, fishing tackle stores, commercial fishing industry is toast. Job loss and economic impact of this is amazing. After 24 years of living in this socialist state , I will take my ammo, guns, business and boat and move to Wisconsin. They passed a bill giving residents the right to hunt and fish. Wisconsin, like 17 states mandates the wildlife biologists dictate rules and regs. not the public. (IE-Mountain lion hunting) They understand the economis impact of sportsmen. The PETA member who spends $100 per year for a bumper sticker is clueless who protects the enviorment and wildlife. I am a memeber of RMEF, WTF, DU, NRA, WFT, ect. I am sure You guys are to. Does anyone in tis state no the Lacey act? Pelosi, Feinsein, Boxer and Arnie can take this state and choke on it. 24 months and counting and "Free at last, Free at last"

My co-workers are tired of hearing this from me but hey, here it goes...INVEST IN LEAD FOR THE TIMES AHEAD!!! Things will have to get alot worse before the sheeple of this once great nation will say enough and stand up to defend this country from our enemy, the domestic enemy that is!
NORKAL

Thats probably the truest statement that I've heard in a while.

popeyoung2 - i'm with you on the politics of this state. too many govt dependant urban voters electing statist polititians. I wish i had the balls to move out of this state like you do.Good luck in Wisconson

not a resident of cali, but didnt arnie try to change things for the better? I hear it was impossible do to teamsters and big union's, pretty much had his back to the wall?

Arnie is an uneducated actor/steroid boy who sleeps with a tree hugging liberal( Google Bootlegging Kennedys). He has broke his promise to California education and our kids twice! No wonder his roid body and pee brain made it in Hollywood. His answer to oil dependency is his 120K h-1 hummer which runs on french fry grease (tv- 60 minutes 3 months ago). I am ashamed to be a Californian any longer. First non-lead ammo, now no ammo with out a serial # on each hull or casing. Second ammd. right violation. Look at the history of the modern world when a country bans guns/ammo. See Germany 1939, Poland, Hungary. New Zealand did this 6 years ago and the violent crime rate has gone up. I lived in Montana for many years where it is still legal to pack loaded guns in a car uncased. Amazing how little road rage exists. Meg Whitman needs to run then run for president. This country is being run by 13 states with huge urban populations who need a handout and feel "entitled". Yes, it only takes 13 states to become president. The other 37 that produce food and work for a living have no say anymore. This state makes me vomit.

Meg Whitman???? Are you serious? The same Meg that will no longer allow you to even sell a riflestock on ebay? She's pretty anti-gun for me. After the Govenor we have now you should have learned your lesson that just because they have an R next to their name does'nt mean they are pro-gun. Hell Jerry Moonbeam Brown is more gun friendly than that prude.

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

so who will be the next gov. of this socialist state. The gay loving mayor of S.F. or the "step out of my marriage" mayor of LA LA land? Either way the solient green continues

This issue is so important and 8 different people have responded or even know about this law. Just like the fishing closure, apathy and ignorance.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-13-09 AT 10:52AM (MST)[p]AB962 has been scheduled for 7/20/09

Please consider sending a fax, calling the appropriations committee, even if you have already done so, asking them to oppose AB962.

Call them and ask if the Senators have read the report by the Department of Financial Bill Analysis. Also make sure to ask them to put your name down on the Opposition list. Here's the phone number (916)651-4101 and a copy of the Report.

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE BILL ANALYSIS
AMENDMENT DATE: Original BILL NUMBER: AB 962
POSITION: Oppose AUTHOR: K. De Leon

BILL SUMMARY: Ammunition

This bill would establish a database maintained by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to serve as a registry of handgun ammunition vendors. Additionally, the bill would require that, beginning July 1, 2010, no person shall sell or transfer specified rounds of handgun ammunition in any month unless he or she is licensed as a handgun ammunition vendor.

FISCAL SUMMARY

Although DOJ has not provided a fiscal estimate for this bill, Finance believes creating a new database and registration program would require significant staff and contract resources. The bill would allow for a fee to be charged to cover DOJ?s costs, but caps that fee at $50. It is not clear that this program can be implemented at that fee level. If it cannot, DOJ would have to seek additional funding, creating pressure on
other special funds and possibly the General Fund.

COMMENTS

Finance is opposed to this bill given the likely cost pressures it would impose and the significant resources it likely would require. Although the bill would provide for a fee to be charged for this purpose, absent specific information from DOJ, it is not clear the fee would be sufficient to fully fund this effort. Additionally, it may not be appropriate to impose additional workload during this time of limited state resources.

Furthermore, given that the licensing restriction would be in effect on July 1, 2010, and this bill, if chaptered, would be effective on January 1, 2010, DOJ would have only months to prepare and implement this database. Also, no appropriation authority is provided in the bill, so it is unlikely DOJ would have additional appropriations to draw from when developing this new program in time for the July 1, 2010 date.

Currently, DOJ maintains a database related to firearms transactions, which is supported by fees.

The bill would create a new handgun ammunition tracking database and registration program for handgun ammunition vendors. The bill would allow for a fee of up to $50 to reimburse DOJ for its costs of administering the license program, maintaining the registry of handgun ammunition vendors and other regulatory functions, including enforcement.

popeyoung2, I've been a staunch republican voter for all of my life. In the last election for gov, I voted for McClintock. Meg Whitman will prove to be nothing more than another "Rino" republican just like the govenor we have now. The moron from LA is much of the same as well. He has been on the wrong side of the Gun issue just as much as anything the dems have put forth. I am in no way a dem or a lib, but hopefully a true conservative...someone who believes in the true meaning of the constitution will come forth.

Somebody once said, its hard to be a republican and for individual rights at the same time.

Hardway,
I have been a staunch repub. as well. The second ammnd. is a federal right which states can manipulate all the time and liberal states like Ca. mess with it. Today it takes us 14 days to walk out with a shotgun and in most states it takes a 2 minute phone call. I am a frustrated outdoorsmen, knowing the math does not add up at the polling booth. Life is too short.

All be it BS but-
Long guns and hand guns in Cali should only take 10 days. You should look for another FFL.

Sorry, You are right,
10 days not 14. but my point is the second ammd. is a federal right which states like Kalif. f..... with all the time. Most states= a 2 minute phone call to the feds to walk out with a long gun. Now the ammo ban. Given the limited and at best poor hunting opps. this state offers, why stay? The weather? The high cost of living? The second highest taxation in the country? The traffic? Hell, That's good enough for me.

Although you don't all agree, I agree with all of ya. You already said how I feel plus I've already said it all before.

I'm embarressed to be a life-long Californian!!!!!!!

Popeyoung and anyone else who wishes to inform and educate themselves on whats really happening in Ca on the gun rights issues.....Go here and start reading......http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/forumdisplay.php?f=71

I know Kyle is a member, but not sure of the rest. I constantly hear things that lead me to believe most Ca gun owners are mis-informed and dont really know whats going on when it comes to Ca gun laws and whats being done about it.
