I pulled this thing outta my wall about 10 years ago. I was on my way to work and noticed the outlet smoking. NOTHING was plugged in. I dropped the breaker and grabbed an extinguisher, then called the FD. After that, I replaced every single outlet in the house, along with all new fire alarms.

It's that time of the decade again to replace them all. Cheap insurance.

I've replaced a few outlets over the years. I built the house in 1975. I put in 3 new smoke detectors last summer. They claim to have a 10 year battery life. We'll see. Good reminder Doc.

Do you remember when they made aluminum wiring ? Sheesh ! We almost lost the house and my brother who was sleeping. Mom and I noticed a burn smell and found it, opened the breaker and got my brother up.
