I took this bull in the 4th week of season. Hunted hard earlier, helped my brother take his first cow and in general had a great hunt in awesome country. I actually like hunting later seson after opening day zoo leaves and you can actually HUNT. I cannot believe I saw only 1 of 20 hunters on foot or 100 yards from an ATV.
I got a tip that there was a good bullholed up in a dark drainage off the beaten track and I had a guess on where he would be at first light.I hiked in about an hour up asteep ridge in the dark. As it happened he was about 100yds away from my guess, just entering the bush. 1 shot with a pre 64 Win 70 300 WM and 180 gr Partitions and I have my best bull to date. He scores 300 even with 48" beams. This is a great bull for an OTC area which boasts a whopping 6% success rate for residents. As a bonus I found one of last years sheds 50 yards from the kill.
