hey guys just wanted to post up a pic of my dads 2013 rattle snake big horn that we were able to take last sunday. we had a blast, these animals are a riot to watch and hunt. After getting in on this ram and his ewes my dad was able to get a 76 yrd shot straight off the canyon rim with his bow, unfortunately the arrow went right over his back. while sitting and looking over this ram watching him go across the other side of the canyon he knew we just couldn't let this guy get away so he opted for his rem 280 and the rest is history.... the biologist aged this old timer at 11.5 yrs old and possibly 12.5 we will have to wait for the tooth results to get a true age. he had absolutely no molars left they were all cracked and below the gum line.

Sixthtine, I notice all the pics are left horn pics. If he is broomed back farther on his right, he is the ram we were hunting last year and failed on. We even looked for him this year and could not find him. Anyway if it is him, I have got lots of video of him from last year if you want it.It is ram band shots of him with MR. Mass and stripe(the 11 year old ram we took last year)Your dads ram was the best of the three old warriors. Congratulations again. He was the right ram to take and one of if not the best rams in the unit.

Great ram!
Thanks for sharing your hunt with us. Nice pics too.
Well done guys!

Congrats to your dad on a Trophy of a Ram, what a warrior!
Thank you for sharing your pics and story with us to all be super jealous of!

Do you have any front on shots or his width, or maybe a behind shot?

Again, thanks for sharing.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-19-13 AT 12:02PM (MST)[p]Fine lookin' old war-horse! I love it!
Sounds like Trammer had it pretty well pegged.
Your dad may want to get with him for some vids and pics.
Again, congratulation to your dad on a fine ram.

check out how he is ready to pop off his left horn in exactly the same place, at the 2 year old annuli. I surmise that he was a feisty as a young ram with stronger than normal hormone activity that caused a deeper than normal ring and a weak spot...If the broken horn bothers your Dad (it would me) he can have the taxidermist cast the end of the long one, reverse the mold and repair the short one and it will look exactly like the left one.

sorry I am trying to post a pic of Stripe for you and its not working. MM has got the screwiest photo uploader.
