Remington 700 barrelled action

Where can I find a Rem. 700 barrel and action? I'm looking to partially build a rifle and I'm curious to see if there are places that sell these parts relatively cheap or if I'm better off just buying a used rifle. I would prefer a short action, no sights. Thanks for the input!

I've found it's cheapesr to find a used rifle in a common caliber. find a 700 in 243, 308 or something if you want a short action and even better if they've scewed it up some how but not altered the action.

I'm thinking the same thing. If I can find a 30 year old 700 action/barrel that will be my start. Gunshows and pawn shops. etc. Sometimes you get lucky.

Thanks guys, that's kinda what I was thinking. I'm considering a .308. Any advice on places that can true up the action as well as the cost of such work?
