Just curious on some of the later hunts and what conditions to expect as far as access. Obviously the weather dictates everything but what is the average time of year they typically close down the FS roads? Some of the draw odds are pretty good for the Oct-Nov time frame but I know access to allot of roads is minimal. Just wondering on some of your experiences in thiese types of conditions.

LAST EDITED ON Jan-21-13 AT 10:34AM (MST)[p]hardly ever any really bad conditions / roadclosures
unless we get a heavy / cold snow after thanksgiving.

then the road freeze at night and thaw during the day makin for muddy conditons

most people who are lucky enough to draw a tag - go hunting reguardless of mother nature.

ever so often hunters do get stranded but its by their own doing as if a really bad storm is coming news /other hunters / concerned families / G&f make every attempt to notify hunters to get out now . they had a rescue a few yrs ago.

True on going out regardless of condition! I always see that some of the access is limited up around the rim area during the winter months. Thanks of the reply!

yes the forest service will shut down a number of roads to prevent damage when they get snowcovered and will not open them till march when they dry out!
