Rocky Boot Soles ?

I have a pair of Rocky boots and the soles are coming off bad. Its like the rubber has just deteriorated. Other than that they are in great shape and are pretty good boots. They are about 10 years old.

Is there anything I can do or anyway to get the soles replaced?

There is nothing that I am aware of but thought I'd ask on here.

Thanks

I've got plenty of good boots :)

I don't wear these often, they are 1000gram Thinsulate. I just hate to throw them out because other than the soles they are still pretty good boots. I'm sure I've got my monies worth out of them...

That's like saying,"other than having no tread, these tires are like brand new!

Unfortunately problems like these have been common since Rocky moved their manufacturing plants overseas. I remember back in the day they had a no questions replacement policy, and then wised up and about the time I joined the military was about the time they packed up and moved out. Since then they have lost their following (at least in my family) with hunters and outdoor workers alike.

I had my boots stored in the garage pulled them out for
hunting season & the soles were mush. The rest of the boot
was in perfect shape. Tossed in the trash & bought a pair
of Danner pronghorns.

Same thing happened to me last fall.

Hadn't worn them all year and when I picked 'em up, the soles looked like rotted asphalt. You could take your finger and rub big chunks off.

Guess you'd be barefoot in about 2 hours but from the soles up, you'd be lookin' good.

Junk 'em!!

had the same thing happen in 07. Although i didn't discover it until we got a foot of snow and I decided to put on my insulated boots. Bad time to find out you'll be hunting in single digit temps with uninsulated hikers.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-05-11 AT 07:19PM (MST)[p]Years ago, my Rocky boots laid down on me on a mule deer hunt in northwest Wyoming. I had used them on one other hunt. The soles just disintegrated. I wouldn't own a Rocky boot if they paid me to wear it. They're really a sorry excuse for a hunting boot.

They are junk as well as their customer service. I have a hard time getting boots to fit so Cabelas recommended wolverine boots and I tried them and they feel good. Had an issue after 2 years so I called them up and sent me a new pair of my choice and they fit good. Great customer service

I have had the same problem with Red wing and Irish Setter boots. My new boots are Rocky and so far they are nice boots. I guess nothing lasts as long as it use to.

i got a pair of rocky boots the only problem im having with them is the top of the toe is wearing out horribly fast compaired to the rest of the boot soles are still in great shape on them and ive had them for five years. After this hunting season though i was starting to debate on getting new ones cuz i dont think theyll make it another year honestly so this here post will make me look at deferent boots

My last pair of rocky's finally gave out this spring. I got 13 years out of them so I got way more then my moneys worth. The only problem ive had with rocky is one year when I was a teen I fell asleep with my feet too close to the fire and woke up to burning feet and the soles were melted off.

If you replace them with another pair of Rockys don't expect the new ones to last anywhere near 13 years. The quality is just not there anymore and don't be surprised if you walk out of them on a hunt sometime.

Lucky for me I bought 3 pair on a closeout deal. The first pair melted in the camp fire on the first hunt. wore out my 2nd pair this spring after 13 years and opened the box to my 3rd pair and used them most of 2011.
If this pair last half as long I will be happy because I use the hell out of them. But when it comes time to buy new I have a few in mind other then rocky.

The pair this post is about I bought in 1999 and trashed them in 2011 when I made this post so I feel like I got my monies worth but I won't buy Rocky boots again.

It's amazing you got 10 days out of a pair of rocky's. I will never buy another pair of rocky's after the soles came off a brand new pair while elk hunting on day 2.

Had the sole of one Rocky boot come off an older pair as we started to hike in on backpack elk hunt into the wilderness a few years ago. Luckily, we hadn't gotten very far, so my buddy waited as I turned back to our main camp to change them out for my Danner Pronhorns. The sole on the other boot came off on my way back.

They were older and well used, but I will never buy Rocky boots again after that.
