Slow bird opener

Slow day on birds only 2 hun and 1 quail. Pup got bored and played in a spring. No chukar chatter all day in the hills and birds were flying like they have already been hunted for a week.

I'm really worried about bird population this year. I normally see 4 or 5 covey of quail where I work. There are none. Only the adults still in pairs. The blue grouse numbers are way off from what I'm seeing.
