goose season starts nov 6 here. went last year for the first time with a friend and managed to kill a total of 3, i got 2. he called me at about 5am and told me to come over so we could go kill some geese. so there we are, no camo, no calls, no decoys, no idea what the hell we're doing hunting geese. just pure dumb luck that we were able to get the ones we did.



i'm better prepared for this year. lined up some land to hunt on and a guy with lots of decoys who loves calling in geese.

thanks for the help on the pics. okay you guys out there have your big game hunting but we (TX) have the waterfowl niche sewn up. Top one with snows, a foggy morning, lay in the mud on the levee, cold, wet, miserable, rye grass field shoot. smoked em.
i am taking the pic here so you cant heckle me about looks:)
second one is coco the wonder lab and a green head shoot in SE tX. Pretty good morning. no other birds, not a single pintail, gadwall, or teal. wierd but i am not complaining!

third, if you like country music you should know the guy in the middle holding the duck. any guesses? he hunts with my buddy all the time. any takers?? not a smoking hunt but a pretty good shoot. SE TX again.

We may not have monster muleys but we have ducks! :D

10-4 on the shots. took me a while to learn to shoot where they will be instead of where they were. That is Mark Chesnutt in the third pic. He hunts with my buddy all the time. He is crazy as heck.

That first pic of the snows was actually a electronic call ( in the fog) hunt. WE SMOKED THEM! man that was fun.

As far as Enployment, I clean toilets for a living and don't make much. about $3 a week but I get by :)

I would love to trade you a hunt. elk for ducks/geese? sheep(if drawn) for ducks and geese? not fair? what do you mean?:) I dont guide now though. I just am in the business end of it now. I travel to dang much for my regular job. check it out at www.brokenloutdoors.com we are jjust getting it up and rolling. for some of our old pics go to www.thedrakeplantation.com this is my buddy brian's guide service. to be really honest the ducks #'s have been down. looks to be that way this year, too. our early teal season was bad. first one i missed in 6 years. didnt miss much.
all the species are about 5 years worth. lion is next on the list. scheduled for january. had a couple other dry runs (moose and lion). going to check out the sheep trek now. will post response asap and to see if you and B_F_E have kissed and made up.

bean.... not milsap but he shoots like him (or ray charles). he was heckled that it was a d*** good thing he could sing because his family would starve if they were relying on him to bring home dinner.

No Poosie, ahhh..I mean moosie. No duck hunting here only chukars. Why do you shoot flying liver anyway? If ya can't eat it, don't shoot it. Kind of like a starling. Steel shot ruins a good gun, waders ALWAYS have a small hole in them, and decoys are way too heavy. Come on down to Farmington Bay and enjoy. There are more people at Farmington Bay than a Boise State vs. BYU football game. In fact the football game has more elbow room. Try getting a flock of mallards to land on that blue turf in the middle of the first quarter. It ain't gonna happen!

I might go shoot geese with ya though if you would ask.

Ok, give it to me. I have never won a war with ya yet.

awesome sheep story moosie. i think we need to look at the initail arrivals of ducks before we commit to anything. usually on the first northern or two is usually a good indication for numbers for the year. not sure what is going on i think the birds are hanging up farther north. awesome yellow fin tuna fishing in the gulf. usually mild temps too (65-70 hi) i know live in brownsville (when i am not traveling for work) there are some pretty good charters down there. mexico is really where you want to go to wack some birds! i dont know if i could stand the harsh criticism that will be placed on me if you have a bad hunt!

"sky liver" is a new one. who says you can't eat them? just have to know how to cook them.:)

I am originally from Alabama so wood ducks are veeerrry common. about all we hunted there. bushwacked a briar cat there too.
I hunt over there once a year. when i am not stuck on one of these jobs.

Who is the ugly kid in the middle in the first pic?

Bear and ducks, they make wonderful dog chow also. Mix it with Alpo and you can fool the dog. Just make sure ya give it to him after a long day in the field. You can also use this recipe for antelope. Sky liver, I like that one better than flying liver. Moosie 1- KTC-0

Alright, Poosie/Moosie I think you can lay off those daily affirmation exercises with Sturart Smaller, you the ones where you look in the mirror & tell yourself "I'm good enough,I deserve good thing, & doggonit people find me attractive." cause it ain't happening buddy. also you need to level with everyone here why you have so many pictures of yourself with dead animals, other than you get to take more pictures of yourself, you know the Medusa effect you have on critters, where they either drop dead or turn to stone when they see you, cause your so fugly.

I did like your brown Cheerio eating quip, & your right I would probably go fishing with you, just as long as we were catching tuna, not skip jack & calling them tuna, plus you where wearing a bag over you head.

moosie, I just talked to my buddy back in TX (I am in VA right now)he said the first real push of birds made it in after the northern a few days ago. I am working my arse off now so I can take off the whole month of january to hunt! have a group of buddies from Alabama going out to TX for a few days in early Jan. Then I am off to New Mexico for a couple of weeks to chase kitty kitty. Hopefully it will work out i got shafted last year had a bad a$$ job going and my buddy from AK was scheduled to come down and hunt whitetail with me. I couldnt get away and had to cancel. sucked! not this year.

What kind of freak doesn't like watching Monday night football, seeing 2 athletes on steroids run full speed & collide into each other, & hearing the concussion that makes. Moosie, you probably don't know anything about the curse the Red Sox's are trying to dispel either. Maybe if you where to stop taking pictures of yourself for a day you might enjoy watching some sports, I know I don't like watching the gangster league aka the NBA either. but whats not to like about football & the beer commercials with the NFL referees that Miller Light just came out with. Maybe your the one who's hetero-credentials need to be questioned, your sure are up to speed with all the faggit nomenclature.
Also Moosie you say your little willy gets a lot of use, but I hardly think you setting there in your office with your blow-up dolly while you self-flagellate qualifies for excessive use.

Axle is one Fine dog you have MTMiller. If my wife would let me go out and Play again this year I'd drive to Montana To see Axle work the ducks. Heaven only knows I don't look good retrieving them :)

As for numbers this year, I think I am just over 30. When my little bro' was here I was not too selective, so I have different species scattered all over the board. I usually try to concentrate on cans, sprigs, mallards and only the best colored wigeons.

I doubt I will make it to Idaho and I don't know how much more I will get done around here. I need to focus on MT and SD deer for awhile, but do need to find a swan sometime in the near future.

Here are a couple of days from when my brother was here (he is the long hair). I know you have already seen these Moosie, but I had to show off Axl some more (get the spelling right Moose-man);-)

Moosie here's another hint for you, if your taking the ol'lady across the border on a big trip, you can spring for better liquor than that rot-gut your trying to feed her in the clear plastic squeeze bottle, thats the stuff they give to the pigs in Mexico when they need worming. However its likely you were probably just trying to feed her that crap so she wouldn't notice how butt fugly you are.

MT.Miller, I think moosie is jeuolous of your dog, not because its a well trained bird getting machine, but because your dog Axl is even better looking than Moosie dude.

Lastly, in the picture of the guy in Africa, is that a diker or a ##### #####, either way thanks for finally posting a picture of someone that's not ugly.

B_F_E, I had every one of that ugly dudes pictures posted once, I'm not sure who he is, but looks like a Pedifile.... The reason I bought the Cheap booze was to be able to afford the trip home. You know cleaning toilets for a liveing I don't make the money you Executives make that can hunt Africa. I'm happy just to Hunt Field mice or Penned chickens most of the time !!!

LOL let me get down to Klamath i got a strap a few pics of straps full of birds with like 35 mallards and and 7 pintails so heavy of straps that they make me hunker down. Give me time LOL i got some photos from the basin that make you stand up and take notice.
