I'm with you.
I have made that very same post myself in the past.
Yes, most of my hunts are self guided.
They bring greater satisfaction than guided hunts for the most part.
All of my fishing is unguided.
I do run into problems with fishing guides sometimes.
HOWEVER,
You ain't hunting Dall sheep, Grizz, Brown Bears or, or Goats in Alaska, Stone Sheep, Polar Bear or most Canadian game and damn near all other game in foriegn countries without a guide.
It is illegal to do so without a guide, period.
Some guided hunts are incredible adventures where you work every bit as hard as the guide and he relies on your outdoor mountain skills as much as you rely on his.
I have trained very hard for a few of my big guided hunts and felt as competnet as my guide, the results end up good with success and respect as a good hunter from the guide that I spend time with.
I always give props to a guy for doing it himself.
That is my favorite way to do things.
I an NOT however going to miss out on some of the world's greatest game animals because of my stubborness.
