I have a pair of Swarovski 8x30 SLC that are at least 25 years old. I noticed that they were not as clear as they used to be, so I sent them to Swarovski for rapair. I just got them back today, and they are better than ever! For about $300. they replaced and updated everything except the original tubes, over 40 parts including new armor coating. They did an excellent job and for about $300 I basicaly got a new set of $1,200 binoculars.

Sounds like the exact same thing with me. Same binos, about the same time frame, etc. Just received them back last Friday. My wife swore up and down they were new. I actually had to look up the SN to make sure they didn't send me back the wrong pair. I too had mine for over 20 years. They got beat up pretty good over the years from Mexico to Alaska to Africa. I'd pretty much had the coating scrubbed off. They replaced the lens, eye cups and if I didn't know any better, the outer covering. They are crystal clear again.

Really and truly impressed with their service.
