T/C Breech plug wrench question

I recently purchased a used 50 cal barrel for my pro hunter that did not come with the breech plug wrench. Is it worth just ordering the T/C tool or does anyone else use an alternative, such as socket and wrench? Anyone know what the size of the breech plug is?

Most of my breechplugs are removed with a 7/16" deepwell socket on a 1/4" drive ratchet with an extension to get the ratchet to clear the receiver.
