Some family from out of state is bringing me an elk rack that has been in the barn for 40+ years. I want to know how I can display it in my home. It is the antlers and top of the skull only. They don't know much about hunting and much less about scoring, but this is the condition of the rack as described to me; still brown, 8x7 typical configuration, 50+ inches wide, long tines, no broken tips or points. How much could I expect to pay for a cape\mount or any other types of display options?
Any input appreciated.

I would say that you could expect to pay in the $900 to $1000 range. You can figure about $750 for the mount and $150 (or more) for the cape. That's if the antlers need no work. You could always do a traditional antler mount on a plaque that would run about $120. If you want to do the antler mount yourself, pm me, and I can give you some tips for doing a really nice looking mount.
