Terra Server

Has anyone ever used Terra Server? How easy is it to use? Is it worth it if you cant get out there and scout?

I also use terraserver in conjunction with my topo maps.It is a very good scouting tool and saves me hours of fruitless hiking.

don't use the pay service at terraserver (if you were) use terraserver.microsoft.com.

Also, download the free program usaphotomaps at jdmcox.com. It's a much cleaner picture with great zoom and features to lay out maps/waypoints/calculate distances etc. Very very useful for pre-scouts. Of course most of the usgs data is old, '98 in my area so if there's been logging, it's less useful. Good luck.

CollVille is right on the money. Use the free services, send a little to jdmcox.com for his usaPhotomaps and start scouting from the PC.
Terraserver.microsoft allows you to print the topo and photo at the same scale so you can overlay the two, real nice.
