Has anyone ever built up a Thompson encore as a long range rifle? Looking at getting a custom 300 win mag.
Pros? Cons?

Buddy of mine has in multiple calibers. He is working the 243 cartridge now and shoots a 6 inch gong consistently at 800 yds. He also has a 300 Win Mag which is his main goto cartridge Wouldn't want to be a deer or elk standing inside 800yds. Haven't heard him say anything negative about the encore yet. Big plus he talks about is, one rifle to learn to shoot.

Thank you! I think I'll give it a try. Let me know if your buddy did a custom barrel and who built it. Does he say anything about their pro hunter barrel?

Yes he has talked about the pro hunter barrels. To my knowledge that's all he has.

TC's are a good platform and lotsa fun. My 300 wm shoots 180 Accubonds @ 3079 and kills stuff a long ways off!!

I did one in 300WM and it shot 1 MOA.
Currently I have a 25-06 barrel that shoots as well.
I replaced the hinge pin with a Bellm 1X

I like having a rifle with a 28" barrel that is no longer than a 24" bolt gun

I have standard Pro Hunter barrels

I switched to the muzzle loader barrel this fall and my grandson shot his buck with it.
