The Treaty can not supersede domestic law. However, it does little to prevent the acquisition of weapons by non-state actors. A serious flaw that will not prevent the purchase of weapons by pirates, drug dealers, and terrorists.

By opposing the UN efforts to curb the world wide arms traffic to areas of conflict we align ourselves with North Korea, Syria and Iran.

Especially given that it will never get 2/3rd's of the Senate to ratify.

Let me ask you this, how many member countries have ratified the UN treaty? How many does it take to ratify it and if the U.S., Russia and China don't go along with what good is the paper it is written on?
