For us in the desert, what is the purpose of that sled? Is it for ice fishing?

It looks cool.

Ice fishing, trapping, pulling the kids around on a tube, hauling late season game out of the field, what ever you can think of. The pictures don't show the hitch you hook any type of sled to, it can can pull several hundred pounds.

This just for running on snow? I’ve been wondering if something like this would work for bringing bait into a bear bait. Open trail but up hill. These have that kind of ability?

It would definitely do it, you would just need to be mindful of how hot the runners for the track would be getting do to friction with no snow/water to cool/lube.
