Hey look...a pooper! What a great privacy gate. Too bad the other three sides of the pooper are open and just 50 feet off the road.
What's in that pooper? Oh...poop, of course. Gross. Yeah..my 2 year old thought it was cool to pee in it.
Got enough shag carpeting for the double wide? If not I know where you can get some!

And there ya have it! The Trashiest Camp Site ever. And that's not even half of the junk out there. I'd need a big wood hauling trailer to clean that place out. I did take some junk with me though. They're drilling a well just a stone's throw down the ridge from this campsite though so before long the whole area may be dozed to make a location.

The seismograph company was the one who left those oil drums out there near that that camp...I don't know how they ended up near that firepit but it sure does add some ambience, doesn't it?. LOL They also left blasting caps...boxes of them...and a bunch of trash. And who knows what'll happen once they start cooking that shale to get the oil out of it. Can't destroy the landscape more than a location does, I suppose.
The coolest thing my kids found out there though, was a cow elk carcass. She'd been dead a couple of years. The bones were picked clean and the hide was curled back quite a bit but my kids thought it was so cool. LOL She was on her back with her head resting on a log, the head is kinda wedged in a Y on the log, so it looks like she was positioned there. The mystery of her death is very intriguing to them. Unless animals die on the side of steep ridges, on their backs with their head resting on logs like that, I'd say it was a human kill. I just hope the meat wasn't wasted, but it doesn't look like any of the hide is disturbed, although I didn't perform a very up close elk autopsy. LOL Dead cow elk...much cooler than a trashy camp site.(to my kids...for entertainment factor) ;-)

It's not so much the oil locations that will bother the deer but the paving of the road that will make it a lot more accessible to all the hundreds of thousands of people who will chase the deer that will affect them. That's the big concern. If the Seep Ridge Road gets paved - bye bye Bookcliffs.

I don't think the locations themselves bother the deer, but their habitat sure is destroyed to make way for those drilling rigs. Big stands of Pinyon and junipers get wiped out to make way for locations. What Bobcat is saying is that we don't know what will happen out there. If drilling continues the way it's going, and Pioneer says it's going to poke 100 more holes out there (that's just ONE company), then alot of the deer habitat will be destroyed. I'm sure not ALL of it will be destroyed, but that much activity out there is bound to have an impact on the herd. It COULD happen. I'd like to take a more optimistic viewpoint, but it does worry me.

Hey bob, I went out yesterday (nov 28) and didnt see a 30"er and only saw one big buck a 28 4x5 with deep forks, pretty sad. I also think they have issued to many tags for the bookcliffs over the short few years its been opened back up.

Hey...if I want a 2nd DSL connection in another part of my house is it just the 44 dollar trip charge and how fast can you get to Neola to get it done for me if I call it in?
The only JENN really happy not to be in Marketing anymore hanging up Christmas decorations, borrowing AC's ladder, and building light parade floats! (I do miss voicing the company's commercials though. Now I just get to be that annoying girl you hear when you're on hold or the girl who tells you the person you have called is unavailable.)

Of course she did. She's a great lady. Fun to be around and welcomed everyone into the Bookcliffs and was Gram M to everyone out there. Too bad you all didn't respect the land enough to clean up after yourselves though.

Well...I think it's sad that that camp is such a trashy disgrace! Why is it so sad that I would state the obvious regardless of WHO camped there? Anyway...if Gram M is proud of that campsite and the way it was left (and I doubt she is) and defends you and your buddies who stayed there then that's sad too. It's pretty sad that someone else mentioned it in the first place in a "TRASHIEST CAMP SITE EVER" thread, isn't it? I didn't even bring it up. But it is a great example of how trashy and disrespectful of the land some people can be, isn't it?
If you stayed there maybe you ought to rally your friends and get out there and clean it up cuz Gram M and Uncle C sure aren't in good enough health to do so.
