Any of you live in Tucson? Just got an employment opportunity there, but have neve been there. Obviously the heat is a negative for this Colorado native, but do the pro's outweigh the cons?

I may be biased living in Phoenix but Tucson sucks !!

J/K Zekers. Tucson usually runs a couple degrees cooler than Phoenix so you have that going for you. You will be surrounded by desert in every direction. Plenty of Deer, Quail, Dove, Coyotes and wide open places to explore. Not really a bad state to live in and after 6 months you can apply as a resident.

In todays world you have to take the jobs that are available. Good luck.

Never lived in Tucson but I have been there many times for wrestling tournaments. I think it's a great place and if you love to hunt, Arizona isn't such a bad place to be a s a resident. As Tag said, gotta take work where work is available, I don't think I would pass it up.

I have down there to visit a good friend of mine about 3 times now and it is always HOT. He is always telling me and sending me clippings out of newspaper about all the killings, shootings etc.

I don't mind visiting him for a few days but to live there, NO WAY.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-14-11 AT 03:10PM (MST)[p]For two years I lived in Phoenix and Glendale while going to Universal Technical Instiute and swore I would never go back. White boy finding himself alone crusing South Central Ave. at night was a bit nerve racking. You might not have to worry about that in Tucson since thats a ways down the line. Oh, and don't worry, it's hotter than a popcorn fart in July but it is a "dry" heat. About the only nice thing I found was the weather durring the winter.

Thanks guys. I have a lot of family in Mesa, but I never visit because of the heat. When it hits 85 here I start shutting down. I'm still busy at work here, but there is just too much doubt, and little security. Trying to stay one step ahead of the game, and then this company called. I'm not looking forward to uprooting the family, and leaving the mountains behind, but I can see growth opportunites there. I also have a buddy trying to talk me into running a dozer for him building oil rig pads in N. Dakota. I'll keep that as a last ditch effort. Don't feel like leaving the kids just so I can freeze my nuts off this winter. Decisions, decisions!

BTW, does anyone know how to get contact info for Feleno Publications? When I googled it, my puter instantly got overloaded by viagra adds and some invitation to a secret clubhouse. Friggin hackers!

Zekers, I can understand your concerns with the heat and all. I am originally a Michigan boy and my whole family still lives there. I have been here since 81 and I would not go back to live in the cold like that again specially to have to drive in it. Here you just stay indoors more during the hottest part of the year, or you drive 3 hours north of here and enjoy the high country, maybe camp and get some scouting in. Joke or not, it is in fact a much different heat then you are used to. I cant stand Michigan when it gets over 85 but here heck 95 is still great. The biggest noticeable difference when I go back there besides the gross heavy humidity is the friggen skeeters eating you alive. We just don't have them here like that. No Knats in your face or deer flys in your hair. It takes at least one year to get aklimated to it here. Once you get past that point things are great. Go ahead, ask me when the last time I had to shovel snow so I could drive to work! LOL

By the way, i live in Queen Creek, 15 miles south of Mesa roughly.

I do have to agree with you on that one. I was there two years getting aclimated and when I was done with school and moved back to Utah, the first winter was by far the coldest I have ever been.

I moved from the Calif Foothills to Tucson to go to school and play ball. Looking back, i should have told my coach that i had a strong interest in the outdoors and to see if he could arrange an alumni to introduce me to all what's available in the area fishing and hunting wise. Not having the foresight to do that, i explored the area on my own and soon gave up the effort as a lost cause. Several times, i fished fish-less golf course ponds just to be fishing.

After two years of Tucson, the party and awesome girls aside, i wanted dearly to be back home in Cali. I'll not ever go back by choice.

Well, I decided to stay put for now. Just too much going on here to be able to jump by Aug. 1st. I hope I don't regret it. Thanks everyone for the replies.
