I retired from the Navy in February. Pay is good. Picked up a GS 12 job...now take home is very good. And the job puts me back doing something productive.

My problem is that as far as I can read the rules, I will not be able to take my customary 15 days of vacation for elk season because I haven't been here long enough. Eight days is about the most I can take...not enough, because my wife doesn't fly.

Do I have any other options?....shoot, I will even take LWOP if I have too. Can I take sick days and leave at the same time?

Darn, I have missed only two hunting seasons since 1976. Once because my truck broke and once when I was in flight school.

My palms are already getting sweatty and my BP is up. HELLLLLPPPP.

8 days is better than nothing , you'll be fine. Just get out and enjoy it ,and by the way. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE....Larry

TAKE AS MANY DAYS OFF AS POSSIBLE!!!

THEN ON THE LAST DAY BECOME SICK!!!

VERY SICK!!!

DEATHLY SICK!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING IT WOULD BE BAD TO MISS THAT HUNTING TRIP!!!

Your wife has got to learn how to fly. It is a lot safer than driving. Find the statistics and convince her. I know, probably easier said than done.

Pretty sure you can take LWOP.
