Unit 17 Deer Youth hunt Thanksgiving

My son was lucky enough to draw the youth deer hunt in unit 17 in late November and early December. I have hiked some and hunted deer muzzy in Late September in the SW part of the unit, so I know a little, but... any pointers would be appreciated. I assume the rut will be underway in December?

My son would love to get a crack at a decent mulie, and we will be enjoying our family Thanksgiving dinner somewhere in the San Mateos...
