Unit 17 New Mexico

I have put in for a Muzzleloader tag this year for unit 17, can anyone give me any information on this area, good or bad. Any knowledge of the area as a good place to start out to scout this summer.

for deer? or elk?

I put in for the elk second hunt. I would like to find a good area also to hunt mule deer,I was out there 2 years ago and hunted unit 2B but no luck, I have a rancher that I can hunt from but the fee is a little more than can afford to pay.

go and scout theres forest road 107 i think i forgot i need to go and find my map that where i got 5x5 bull 2 years ago with my muzzleloader i think the mountain is watercanyon im not sure...

I was on the same application with buckeye. We didn't get drawn for elk but did get deer. How did you do? Any thoughts on were we might start looking?
