Unit 19

Hello again everyone. Was wondering if anyone had any experience in unit 19 southern parts close into the Rocky Mtn park area, of course not in the park. Hunting for elk, I am looking for cows and hold a cow elk muzzleloader tage. I have heard that long draw rd and or pierrney park rd might hold some elk??? Might it be true? Just looking for general areas to take a looksy! Thanks!

It is true. Also holds quit a crowd during that time of year. Check out a map of those areas you mentioned and find spots back a ways near water and you will find elk. Weather can affect the whereabouts of the elk that time of year so be alert to those changes. If you hunt hard and smart you stand a chance of killing an elk.

Are we talking high above tree lines or lower valleys? Also is it better closer to the park or stay out of there all together? Has anyone hunted that area in the past, that has any experience to what area/road is better than the other?
