Ive hunted across the highway in 28 several years. The Ute Pass Road looks like a 4th of July celebration with all the camps along it...but there are elk. Find a way to get more than a mile in somewhere on foot and you wont see anybody except at the trailhead. Oh yeah, be sure you know where the mine boundarys are(if any). Had a bad experience up there. I was on my side of the posted boundary signs by a couple hundred yards, but ended up being on mine property by a ways.Their boundary was back up the hill behind me-unmarked. Talk to the nice wardens at Hot Sulfur Springs DOW office. They were very helpful.
