Unit 36 Muleys

Hi all,

I (and a few friends) drew unit 36, 2nd rifle this year and I'm already looking forward to hopping over from Socorro and learning the terrain.

Can anyone recommend an area to camp out of or otherwise use as a starting out point to begin exploring? I'm thinking good trailheads or designated camping areas or even county roads to start learning.

Thanks,

EF

It looks like I'll head up for camping in three weeks. Does anyone here hunt from the west side, foothills of the mountains for muleys or is it all focused on the east side of the white mountains or even east of Ruidoso?

Thanks for any help, getting away for camping with the kids will be a blast and any scouting will be a bonus.

Looks like we drew the same hunt. I have been to ruidoso many times but never for hunting. I plan to do some camping/scouting as well this summer.

Thanks for the info, I'm going up this weekend with my kids to check out some of these places. It won't be hard-core scouting but it beats staying home and mowing the lawn.
